Press Report : Jaguar XF sales double in one year

Birmingham Post, 8th April, 2010

Jaguar is roaring out of the recession in style, with UK sales of its flagship XF model virtually doubling in just 12 months. Figures out today show that a total of 2,522 XFs were sold in March 2010 compared to 1,294 the previous year, up by a whopping 94.2 per cent.

The XF has been a big success story for Jaguar, clocking up around £300 million worth of advance orders weeks before its showroom debut more than two years ago. The car, which sells for between £29,900 and £62,055, is manufactured at Castle Bromwich and replaced the long-running S-Type after more than nine years in 2008.

Meanwhile, XK sales have also improved by 36.6 per cent, with 381 cars sold compared with 279 last March.

With more than 22,000 XFs now on the road in the UK, the growing popularity of the XF speaks for itself. The second half of 2009 saw consecutive sales growth for the XF and at the end of the year our order book was nearly full with customers.” Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK

Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK, said: “With more than 22,000 XFs now on the road in the UK, the growing popularity of the XF speaks for itself. The second half of 2009 saw consecutive sales growth for the XF and at the end of the year our order book was nearly full with customers.

“We have kept this momentum going in a challenging market during the first quarter with a very successful TV, print and web advertising campaign, and this has helped us nearly double our sales of XF in March.”

There are now 22,507 XFs on UK roads with 10,108 sold in 2009, 8,885 sold in 2008 and 3514 sold so far in 2010.

About the Author:

Clive claims that his interest in the BMC>MG story dates back to his childhood in the 1960s when the family’s garage premises were leased to a tenant with an Austin agency. However, back in the 1920s and 1930s, his grandmother was one of the country’s first female Garage Proprietors so cars probably run in his genes! Admits to affairs with Alfa Romeos, but has more recently owned an 06/06 MG TF 135 and then a 15/64 MG3 Style… Clive, who was AROnline’s News Editor for nearly four years, stood down from that role in order to devote more time to various Motor Racing projects but still contributes articles on as regular basis as his other commitments permit.
