Rover 600 (SK1)
The Rover 600 was the fifth major Honda collaboration with Rover, and was was a project to replace the upper Austin-era Montego models. It was also charged with opening up new markets for Rover – to produce a viable rival for the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz 190. In these aims, the stylish Rover 600 ultimately succeeded.
The top end of the company car market was a major growth area in the European market in the 1990s, and Rover with its newfound upmarket aspirations was keen to cash in on this huge growth. Sadly, politics got in the way, and the car was replaced early in its life by the BMW-era Rover 75.

It could be argued that Volkswagen’s recent ‘trendiness’ and profitable trading is down to two factors: the success of the Mk5 Volkswagen Passat (MY96) and […]

KEVIN DAVIS reckons so, and tells us how Rover missed a golden opportunity to stick one on its German owners… The ti’s the limit… THE Rover 600 Series was a competent enough range based largely on the awkward looking Honda Accord. Though the 600 Series […]
