Roewe 950

Keith Adams Auto China 2012 officially saw the severing of the genetic ties between SAIC Motor’s faux-UK brand and the Rover products it formerly based its cars upon. The impressive new car that headed up Roewe’s motor show hoopla was the 950, which is based closely on the Buick LaCrosse/Saab 9-5, nestling atop a GM [...]

The cars : Roewe 550

The cars : Roewe 550

SAIC’s work on adapting the 2007MY Rover 75 for its own use (with more than a little help from its friends at Ricardo 2010) was most impressive – and now it appears that the same magic is about to be undertaken again with its reworking of the RDX60 concept. Ever since the first spy shots [...]

MG : MG6 Magnette launched at Goodwood

MG6 at Goodwood

Words: Clive Goldthorp Photographs: Simon Davies/Pegasus Photographics MG’s choice of the Goodwood Motor Circuit as the venue for the Media Launch of the new MG6 Magnette, the saloon version of the MG6 GT, was particularly apt – Lord March’s grandfather, Freddie, raced one of the original MG K-Type Magnettes back in the early 1930s and [...]

My motoring week : AROnline and the MG6 GT

A week with the MG6

Keith Adams Monday Okay, it’s been a busy week at AROnline Towers but, apart from our hosting issue, it’s all been good. It started on Monday, as weeks do, with a flying visit to Longbridge to pick up an MG6 GT from the inner sanctum. Well, I say inner sanctum, more like the car park [...]

Let’s get this out of the way first before moving on: the MG6 is a very good driver’s car, and one that the British Engineers, Designers and – yes – Assembly Line workers [...]

Up close with the MG6

Words: Keith Adams Photographs: Simon Davies/Pegasus Photographics Like many of you, I took a little time out over the weekend to take a close look at the MG6 at the MPH with Top Gear Live Show and, like many of you, I liked what I saw. It’s an inoffensive looking hatchback that should appeal to [...]

MG6 : A brief encounter leaves a lasting impression

MG6

Clive Goldthorp Our Editor, Keith Adams, normally undertakes AROnline’s Test Drive duties – I do not really have the driving skills necessary to push new models to their limits and provide informed feedback to our readers. However, when Keith’s Octane commitments precluded him from joining me at MG Birmingham last week and MG Motor UK’s [...]

First drive : MG6

The MG6 shies away from the boxier styling of rival European designs, featuring a distinctly Roveresque fastback look. Initial criticisms have been limited to its rather generic front end.

It’s the first new MG hot-hatch since the Zed cars burst onto the scene in 2001 in an attempt to sex-up the frumpy Rover range. We drive the MG6 and come away with the distinct impression that the Anglo-Chinese hot-hatch is a step in the right direction. Words: Nigel Garton Pictures: car.autohome.com.cn Date: 24 Dec [...]
