Lake Iseo

During the night I heard waves on the lake lapping against the wall and thought I ought to get up and retrieve the beer so it didn’t get washed away, but I thought better of it and went back to sleep.

I had a real long lie in and when I got up I looked for the guy rope that the beer was attached to and felt rather smug when it still looked taught, looked over the edge of the lake, and to my dismay, the container was still there, but was now empty as the rubbing on the rocks had punctured it. Anyway I hope the little fishes enjoyed it.

I washed a few clothes in the campsite washing area and hung them out, only to find there was a bloody washing machine there too.

I headed round the lake with no particular destination in mind and just had a gentle trundle around. Again looking for wiggly bits, I turned off the main road and was astounded to see the angle of the slope, never one to be deterred I headed off up it with gusto only to reach a hairpin so tight I had to do a 3 point turn round it. I attempted to set up off the next slope, only for the engine to nearly stall, it was that steep. I rolled back and took a run at it and the same thing happened half way up, I pulled on the handbrake and dipped the clutch. A hill start with much engine revving and clutch slipping resulted in one of the front wheels spinning and smoking, so deciding discretion was the better part of valour I reversed back down the hill, which was no mean feat in itself.

I returned to the tent for an early evening kip and started to plan the next few days adventures.
