This is what it’s all about – chewing the fat about our cars…

There were times when it looked like we’d never make it, but 10 years on, we’re still here and recovering from what was a very busy 10th anniversary party. Of course, the British weather did its best to put a halt on the proceedings by liberally dumping water over the West Midlands, but many fans of AROnline were undeterred, bringing their cars – and themselves – along to meet the team, see some of Gaydon museum’s best exhibits, listen to talks by MG’s Ian Pogson and former Land Rover product manager and author, Mike Gould, and pit their wits for cheesy prizes in the AROnline trivia quiz.

First there was a brief tour and talk given by Keith Adams (ably assisted by Mike Gould) of some of his favourite exhibits at the museum. It was here that event-goers got to see the unfulfilled prototypes that could have saved the company. The general consensus when put to the vote was that they wouldn’t have, by the way.

After the quiz (Ken Strachan won that one), the talks and the prize givings, we were off outside for some drives. The AROnline project Rover SD1 proved a popular one for people to get in and drive, as did Chris Wood’s Nissan Leaf and Stewart Weller’s Citroën XM. A great day was had by all, and we’re already getting calls to make it an annual event.

Thanks as ever to Clive Goldthorp and Mike Humble, without who’s organizational skills, the anniversary bash would never have happened.
