The 2015 BMC, BL and MG Rover Welsh Get Together is taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August, and the new (and bigger) home for the event is Ynysangharad Park in Pontypridd.

The venue is located just off the A470 and is approximately 10 miles north of Cardiff (Junction 32 of the M4). Two previous Welsh Get Together events were held at Pontypridd High School back in 2009 and 2010. Ynysangharad Park is also home to Rhondda Cynon Taf’s new flagship attraction, namely Lido Pontypridd.

Designated the National Lido of Wales, it will officially open on Saturday, 29 August as part of a number of activities in and around the town during the Bank Holiday weekend. Spearheaded by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, Heritage Lottery Fund and Cadw, the £6.3m project has totally transformed the landmark Grade 2 listed lido. The project included restoring and remodelling the lido with three heated swimming pools to accommodate different age groups and also features a café and state of the art dry play area.

The BMC, BL and MG Rover Welsh Get Together is open to owners of any BMC, BL, Leyland, Austin Rover, Rover or MG Rover produced car or van and entry is free – the gates open at 10.30am.

The Welsh Get Together is fully supported by RCT Council, GTFM Radio. AROnline will also be supporting the show on the day and site fans owning any BMC>MGR product are encouraged to come along and join us.

AROnline and Nigel the "S - Express" Montego on his first public outing under new ownership will be supporting the show. Are you brave enough to take part in the Product Knowledge Quiz?

Nigel, the ‘S – Express’ Montego, will be making his first public outing under new ownership and be flying the flag for AROnline. Join us on the day and take part in the (soon to be) world-famous product knowledge quiz

For those of a competitive nature, we’ll be holding a knowledge-based quiz similar to the one we ran at the recent Peterborough event, too. It’s all just for laughs really but there will be some cracking prizes on the day for the winners and it’s worthy of note that a number of local charities will benefit from money raised from the event in the form of collections.

For an entry form and/or further details you can contact the Welsh Get Together organiser Ian Edwards (BL lover, Mini 25 owner, presenter of a car show on GTFM Radio and a complete petrolhead) either by email at driversseat@gtfm.co.uk or call/text him on 07583 931068.

Oh, and whether you are a fan of The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy or not, with the lido officially opening on  29 August…

…..Don’t forget your towel !

  1. Sounds like a good gathering in prospect. Nigel the Montego looks really spick & span. Is the new Golf in the background Mrs Humble’s?
