Does anyone know anything about this extremely rare wagon? I understand that only a few prototypes made before Leyland Australia bit the dust. I am of the belief that the white one pictured below resides here in Adelaide as I have seen it at least twice in the last few years. I am absolutely fascinated by it, as it must be one of if not the only one left in existence. |

There’s a brown one still around in, I think from memory, Sydney. I only know that because I happened to come across a photo of it by chance on Flickr. I’ve just had a look and I can’t find the link though. Not sure if its in daily use, but it looked well looked after. |

I wonder how many prototypes are out there? They never made it into full production. The Force 7 liftback was on the production lines, but they all got scrapped bar one in each colour as they were not complete cars (none of them were completely trimmed for some reason) I am not even sure how the wagons survived the Leyland closure…. |

There’s another picture of a white one at this link, ironically in a scrapyard, and described as ‘the only one in existence. Lots of mysteries surrounding the P76 – was it related to the P8 or SD1, was it Michelotti’s proposal for the SD1, etc http://www.aronline.co.uk/blogs/2011/07/22/the-cars-leyland-p76/ |

I found this link on a green one that is in extremely poor condition http://www.leylandp76.com/private/nsw/michael.html Whatever the connections they were a total and utter failure sadly. The joke back in the day was it was easier to tell your local dealer what wasn’t wrong with your p76 than what was at service time. They were so bad that when you picked up your v8 model they came with a 4 litre pack of oil in the boot…. |

No, I grew up in NZ and we were shipped a few (about 1500 I think) CKD kits after Leyland Australia shut down. They are pretty rare on both sides of the Tasman though. We also received all the Marina 6s and 1750s they couldnt sell too. NZ was bit of a dumping ground for Leyland’s stock they couldn’t sell anywhere else back in the day. The one Leyland car I have a real hankering to get my hands on is this; |
