I’m so glad it’s worked out for you, Rob. Life would be so much duller without a nice classic in the garage.

Thank you Frankie, whilst its not a minter it is in a good useable condition, and certainly gets the looks whilst out and about. Whilst Minilites might not to be everyones tastes, I think they suit older stuff, and are far better than a set of modern alloys on an old car.

Keith I admit I did think about selling it on the last couple of weeks, probably due to not actually driving it, but that vanished after a few miles behind the wheel. Hacked off about the leak, but then I suppose its the joy of an old car. I may invest in a cover for it to try and keep out the worst. Good job its time to ask Santa! :)

DeLorean's Ccountant

Rob C: I think you’re right, I don’t believe you can just Plug ‘n Play a modern EFi system onto a PI. It’ll either over fuel or under fuel at all manner of throttle opening/engine speed/flywheel load conditions/ambient conditions. This is what calibration engineers do and it takes hours, weeks even maybe months* to get it right ona dyno.

*Modern cars DO have to meet stringent emissions now, which the Triumph won’t.

Something about those Triumph fascias, always look good and never seem to date. I love the warning light cluster in the round shape and as for carpeted gearstick gaiters on some Triumphs…v nice

Allen, thanks, I’m signed up on the forum and pop on every now and again, in fact Mike sorted me out with a column clamp handle not so long back, however I’m only allowed to belong to one club at a time, and its currently the TSSC.

Looks good on the minilites & like the motolite wheel. Had a 2000 saloon years ago & loved, the only thing that came close to it afterwards was an XJ6 that wafted along the road in a similar manner. Excellent example there especially withe the webasto roof – love it.

Well I’ve spent some time over the last couple of weeks fettling, I resprayed the rings around the dials, and whilst not perfect, better than what they were. I’ve also replaced the steering column bulkhead bush as it was missing whilst I sorted the snapped off adjust handle for the column height. The meant removing the whole column, but that was easy enough, so we now have a properly bushed column and height adjustable once more.
I had planned to fit the SEi seats in too, but after looking at the floor pan, the part where the seat bolts in is double skinned, so no way to access the nuts to bolt the seat in, plan B involves a length of metal bolted across the existing holes that the SEi runners can attach to.
Damned overdrive has packed up too. Well I say packed up, it’s not engaging all the time, occasionally it will cut in but not often, so I’m going to have to fiddle with electrics I think. You can hear interference on the radio when operating the switch though.
I still keep thinking about flogging it on for a ZS though… :-?
