I love Roewe! The cars, the adverts, and the amazing website. There is something about the chinese interpretation of all things British, that brings a smile to my face. In fact I think that Roewe is much cooler than MG (and yes I do understand that my favourite MG is based on a 550). But my question is, with a good advertising campaign behind it, if Roewe came to the UK would it succeed. Now I know that this question may appear daft, but ask yourself this question twenty years ago how many people had heard of KIA. |

Roewe aren’t too bad, but it would need refinement before coming here. A bit like KIA really. |

Well there was talk of the 750 comimg into the UK via Ssan Yong dealers, but nothing came of it. I think it looks fabulous though, but wonder if the quality is there in the flesh. |

I’d buy a 350 or 750 over most euro metal. |

I think the ‘chinese sounding’ name would prejudice a lot of buyers against them. That was the reason SAIC originally wanted the Rover name. It would probably help if they anglicised the name a bit (like Kwanon the very well known Japanese camera manufacturer did) That’s not to say any brand couldn’t build a reputation though, Nissan(those ugly looking things made in Japan from old razor blades), Kia (the people who make that ‘pride’ thing), even BMW (you remember, that maker of motorbikes for the Africa Korps and supplier of rot prone cars to the SS, then later odd 1 door 3 wheelers). As for the cars they don’t look half bad really. They could certainly have worn a Rover badge well. |

Badged as a Austin or Morris, yes. People can’t pronounce Xantia, Peugeot or Renault never mind Roewe. |

I would buy the car, but not with that god awful Roewe badge on it. The name just sounds wrong and is an all too obvious ripoff of Rover. With a name like Austin, Morris, MG or Wolseley I would be heading down to the dealer to have a very good look…… |

The 750 would show itself up if it came over here, the fact of the matter is is too identifiable as an old model now. The clay model on here was done in 1994 for goodness sake and the 750 is still miles too similar. The 350/550 however, with some tweaking could definitely work IMO; but not as Roewe. People like brands they can say easy; think how many people still mis-pronounce Renault, Perodua etc |

@ Mark Mastro. Apparently “Roewe” is pronounced “Wrongway”. A PR minefield… |
