The long-awaited and far from unexpected Jaguar F-Type Coupe will make its global debut on at a Los Angeles VIP customer and media event on 19 November. It’s the day before the Los Angeles Auto Show, where it will take centre stage on the Jaguar stand. It will also be displayed concurrently at the Tokyo Motor Show.

The all-aluminum F-Type Coupe range echoes the gorgeous styling premiered in the C-X16 concept (below) first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011. Although launched after the F-Type convertible, both cars were developed side-by-side, with plenty of bespoke engineering in both versions. The teaser image confirmed that the car will have an XJ-style glass roof panel – at least in the top versions.

The car promises to be a faster, more focused drive than the Convertible version, thanks to its lighter and more rigid body. Engine line-up is expected to be the same, too, with a supercharged line-up of V6 and V8 engines.

Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar, said, ‘The excitement generated when we revealed the C-X16 concept was terrific; so to now be on the cusp of what I can assure you will be a drama-filled reveal event in Los Angeles for F-Type Coupe is a very significant moment.

‘We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive reaction to the F-Type Convertible, but for me the purity of creating a sports Coupe is a uniquely satisfying process – and I know that both visually and dynamically, F-Type Coupe raises the bar yet again.’

The F-Type Coupe promises to will deliver in production form the uncompromised design vision of the Jaguar C-X16 Concept and will complement the existing Convertible, winner of the 2013 ‘World Car Design of the Year’ award. The Coupe will go on sale in early 2014.

  1. Cant wait to see this in the flesh.. It look like they have improved on the CX16 styling, which was great anyway…. lets wait and see all the views. I suspect, as with many of Callums designs, the rear will look stunning….. Love the glass roof on this picture. Hopefully this will boost Jaguars presence around the world.

  2. I think the current convertible version is bumping up against price resistance, now the initial rush is over. This car is seriously expensive for something that won’t even take a weeks shopping, or even luggage for a weekend-for-two away !

  3. @2 But its not experiencing price resistance is it? They cant make them fast enough. If you want luggage space then you buy this coupe.

  4. I saw the coupe version last Tuesday being driven around the out skirts of Abingdon in Oxfordshire. The car was white and completely covered with small black squares looking like a chess board in an attempt to disguise its lines.
What struck me most was the shere amount of noise from the exhaust as it past us!.
