News : Jaguar Land Rover looks to fill 1700 vacancies

Jaguar Land Rover has now begun recruitment for the 500 new jobs at its Solihull manufacturing facility as part of a 1,700 jobs recruitment drive.

The plans, announced last September, will see the first intake consist of semi-skilled production operator jobs to support the production of new vehicles, included as part of the £1.5bn invested to expand the site.

Following a record breaking year for Jaguar Land Rover sales in 2013, Solihull has ambitious plans for growth to meet customer demand and the site will become the company’s centrepiece aluminium car production centre, with the first new model – the 3-Series rival – to emerge next year. After the current recruitment process, the site’s head count will be around 8000. All new recruits will undertake a structured training programme which includes working towards an NVQ II qualification in Business Improvement Techniques.

    I find my aluminium XJ6 a superb car that handles like a car a size down, due to its lightweight aluminium construction. With all Jaguars now to be aluminium, clearly this is the way to go for fuel economy and handling and reduction of the excessive weight of larger vehicles

    An English (doesn’t matter who owns it) automotive success story I really hope it carries on, although with the present range of products it can’t go far wrong if quality is maintained. Great company, great products.
