Jaguar has introduced two new special edition XK models. The XK Signature (luxury) and XK Dynamic R (performance) are priced at £54,950 and £69,950 respectively with the first cars arriving in March. Both are available in coupe and convertible form.

The XK Dynamic R (above) has a 5.0-litre supercharged engine with 503bhp and gets the Black Dynamic Pack, which includes XKR-S suspension and a 10mm reduction in ride height. It has the Speed Pack, too, which with its aerodynamic upgrades gives the car an increased maximum of 174mph. A Performance Active Exhaust is also standard.

The Dynamic R also has Active Differential Control technology. Inside are new diamond-sewn Performance seats in either ivory and charcoal soft grain leather with ivory contrast stitch or, alternatively, charcoal and red soft grain leather with red contrast stitch leather.

Visual highlights are its 20-inch Vortex diamond turned wheels, with red painted brake calipers, along with the option of 20-inch Vulcan Gloss Black lightweight alloys. Both editions are available with a choice of paint colours – Polaris White, Ultimate Black, Stratus Grey, Italian Racing Red, Dark Sapphire and British Racing Green.

The XK Signature (below) focuses on luxury and comes with luxury seats in either ivory or charcoal soft grain leather plus canvas suede cloth headlining, figured ebony veneers and bright metal sport pedals. It also comes with a reverse parking camera and 20-inch Kalimnos alloy wheels.

Power comes from the 5.0-litre V8 engine with 380bhp which delivers 0-60mph acceleration in 5.2 seconds for the coupe and 5.3 seconds for the convertible. It’s fitted with a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox with steering wheel-mounted paddles while the top speed for both is electronically limited to 155mph with emissions of 264g/km.

Nice to see some product enhancement activity for the XK range given the recent launch of the F Type in both Convertible and Coupe form, which must pose a threat to sales of the older and bigger XK. However, I am surprised that it still comes with ‘only’ a six-speed transmission when every other Jaguar models use an 8-speed unit.

The XK is still a great looking car and an enjoyable one to drive. I am surprised though there aren’t more enhancements for this model given it was last updated in 2009 and it faces strong competition from new metal such as the new generation Mercedes Benz SL.

This car is still absolutely stunning. I haven’t driven one but it could drive like a dog and id still love it.

£54,950?! Surely that’s a typo on the website. The cheapest XK used to start at £65k a week ago. They don’t usually load it with extras AND drop the price by £10k. It makes the F-Type look even more overpriced. Unless of course it is a free lunch…..

  4. David 3500 says:

I have just read the official press release dated 22nd January and it states: “XK Signature is priced at £54,950 with XK Dynamic R on sale at £69,950 on-the-road”.

I have also just checked the latest Jaguar XK online brochure with price list and it states that the 5-litre V8 385 Petrol Coupe is £65,465.00 on-the-road and the Convertible is £71,465.00.

Therefore the Signature model represents a saving of nearly £10,000 over the regular normally-aspirated model. This would suggest then that demand for the XK has been affected by the arrival of the F Type.

  5. Jojo says:

Could the prices be without VAT by any chance? Once you add VAT they sound more plausible.

Have your say...
