Midland carmaker Jaguar Land Rover has become the latest member of a European-wide group manufacturing research and development group. JLR officially joined the European Council for Automotive R&D (EUCAR), which represents the major European automobile manufacturers in their common research activities, on the 1st July, 2010.
EUCAR’s members participate in common research activities around fuels and powertrain, materials and manufacturing, mobility and transport and integrated safety. They also participate in projects funded by the EU’s Research Framework Programmes, which bring together manufacturers, suppliers, SMEs and research institutions from EU member states to work on collaborative automotive research.
Marc Duval-Destin, the Chairman of EUCAR and Vice-President of Research at PSA Peugeot Citroën, said: ‘We welcome Jaguar Land Rover and are convinced that their expertise and commitment in research and development will make a valuable contribution to the work of our association. As the UK’s largest automotive employer and one of its largest investors in R&D, joining EUCAR was an important step.”
