MG Car Club : MGLive! 2011 gathers pace…

The MG Car Club reports that the tickets for this year’s MGLive!, the world’s largest MG event, are selling briskly and that, with the all-new MG6 going on sale in April, interest in the famous MG brand is booming!

MGLive! is the MG Car Club’s showpiece event and returns to Silverstone for its sixty-first successive year, taking centre stage at the famous Northamptonshire venue on 24 to 26 June 2011.

MG fans from Australia, America, New Zealand, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Luxembourg, Holland and Belgium have already confirmed their attendance as the iconic MG Silverstone celebration maintains its truly international flavour. Indeed, members from the recently formed MG Car Club of China are also planning a visit to Silverstone to take in the MGLive! experience.

The 2011 event will be laced with exciting events throughout and boasts a range of activities that the whole family can enjoy. Precision driving extraordinaire Russ Swift is confirmed for the full three-day stint. Thrill-a-minute Swift fronts an action-packed arena that also includes motorcycle displays and live demonstrations. Meanwhile, British National Aerobatic Champion Pilot Gerald Cooper will be taking to the skies and performing jaw-clanging aerobatic stunts for enthusiasts to savour.

On track, a full MGCC racing programme will rock n’ roll on Silverstone’s full F1 circuit with large grids anticipated, whilst the popular ‘Sprint” returns to the Stowe circuit on Sunday, 26 June . Throughout the weekend Trade City will be open for business – with a vast range of products for visitors to peruse and purchase. It presents a fantastic opportunity for owners to track down that elusive classic car part at bargain prices.

Alongside the aforementioned events, the weekend will also include the MG Lifestyle Marquee exhibiting everything from jewellery to preserves; Rocker Box racing, the California Cup Autotest and free, on-site transport from a fleet of Vintage buses.

MG Car Club General Manager, Julian White, said: ‘The MGCC  is delighted by the strong early ticket sales and the level of interest that 2011 event has already created. We have worked hard to offer an extensive range of events and we’re confident that visitors to MGLive! in 2011 will enjoy the event more than ever before.

‘Utilising Silverstone’s prestigious F1 circuit means competitors racing at MGLive! have the opportunity to compete on the same track Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button et al will experience some two weeks later. Additionally, the track tours on Sunday allow event visitors to drive their MG road cars on the Silverstone track in the popular circuit tours!

‘There will be more significant announcements in the coming weeks so I’m urging MG enthusiasts to keep an eye on the official MGLive! event website in the lead up to the celebration.’
