AROnline may have only just run a story about MG Motor UK Limited’s pre-launch media initiative for the MG6 yesterday but that programme has already moved up a gear with the company’s announcement that the first new MG since 2001 will take centre stage at the MG Car Club Limited’s MGLive! event which will be held on the famous Silverstone Grand Prix circuit from the 4th June, 2010 to the 6th June, 2010.

Guy Jones,  MG Motor UK’s Sales and Marketing Director, said “We strongly believe that the loyal fans of the MG brand should have the first opportunity to see the new MG6 and what better opportunity than at the world famous Silverstone race circuit at the MGLive! event in June.

“This is already a great event and a testimony to the strength of the MG brand, so it is fitting that we take the all-new MG6 there as part of the celebrations surrounding the MG brand. The MG6 will be the centre piece of the MG Motor stand at the heart of the action for the weekend at Silverstone.”

John Day, MG Car Club’s Chairman, added: “ We are ecstatic that MG Motor UK have chosen MGLive! to officially preview the MG6. I know that our members will be excited by this announcement and the presence of the manufacturer at MGLive! continues the exceptional relationship between the MG Car Club and MG Motor UK.”

The MG Car Club (MGCC) has held a Race Meeting at Silverstone every year since 1950 but, to mark the 60th Anniversary, this year’s event will be run on the full 3.2 mile Grand Prix circuit. MGCC competitors will therefore have a chance to tackle famous corners such as Stowe and Abbey for the first time.

About the Author:

Clive claims that his interest in the BMC>MG story dates back to his childhood in the 1960s when the family’s garage premises were leased to a tenant with an Austin agency. However, back in the 1920s and 1930s, his grandmother was one of the country’s first female Garage Proprietors so cars probably run in his genes! Admits to affairs with Alfa Romeos, but has more recently owned an 06/06 MG TF 135 and then a 15/64 MG3 Style… Clive, who was AROnline’s News Editor for nearly four years, stood down from that role in order to devote more time to various Motor Racing projects but still contributes articles on as regular basis as his other commitments permit.
