News : Aston Martin announces apprenticeship places

Aston Martin HQ

Aston Martin currently employs almost 40 young apprentices at its factory and global HQ at Gaydon, Warwickshire, and would like to add a further ten to that tally. The vacancies are in a selection of priority positions, and apprentices will be on a four-year fixed contract to learn their trade in one of the following areas: Paint, Trim, Maintenance, Control Engineering and Robotics, or Manufacturing Engineering.

To be considered for one of the 10 places available, candidates must be aged 16 to 18 and have five GCSE passes (or equivalent) at Grade C or above, including Maths, English and at least one science. They will need to demonstrate an interest in the automotive sector through their previous work experience, hobbies or school project work, and be able to show a commitment to teamwork along with academic aptitude, ambition and a passion for the motor industry.

This is a welcome addition to a growing move towards taking on apprentices across the motor industry in the UK, and close up the skills shortage that is currently affecting business.

  1. Excellent news. My son starts an apprenticeship with Jaguar Land Rover next week. A great alternative to higher education with a good job at the end of, a degree and no debt. And for the company, a trained and committed employee infused with the firm’s values from an early age.
