EPIC FAIL!
We left our house at around 6ish and then arrived at Crystal Palace fine so that was all good,
Then the que that we were in was supposedly leave at 9ish but naturally that didn't happen and we left there at 11 but then because the L2B people though it would be a good idea to beat a world record of minis in convoy.. over 2000 minis headed through the Crystal Palace park at about one mile an hour for over two hours! Then came the inevitable break downs and over heatings, lots of overheating! people were dropping out left right and centre. then the convoy was held up again when a guy managed to get his mini marroned on a speed bump. Our car which until the last 20 minutes of standing idle was working perfectly started to smell pretty strange like burning plastics then what sounded as if it was coming from the petrol tank started to make a boiling noise.. Then our mini and many others after staying pretty much idle for so long started to have to rev incredibly highly just to move an inch. Our cars performance gradually deteriorated until we stopped in at a sainsburys to let the car cool down a bit then we just gave up the journey to Brighton as after sitting in the car for like 7 hours we were all pretty fed up and we all realised it was gonna be a heart in mouth journey to Brighton every time there was a noise a shake or a speed bump.. So we never did get to brighton defeated we were :(
I'll post up some pictures of the bits we got to see..

tom. :(

I did the L2B what 20 years ago in a Morris Minor, had a great trip up to Battersea, By time we got to Croydon, it was burning so much oil it was untrue, I looked like Bonds Aston with the smoke screen, however, kept topping the oil up, and made it to Brighton, and all the way home again, just cost me an arm and leg in oil

I fail to see how a record breaking convoy of Minis can include BINIs.

I remember at car show 10 years ago there was an attempt to get 40 Minis from each year of production side by side, on the day I went there were some gaps, but still a lot of Minis & other oldies all in 1 field.
