A run to commemorate the life and career of Charles ‘Spen’ King has been announced and will be held on the 21st August, 2010. The event is being organised by the Rover SD1 Club with the assistance of Triumph Stag Owners Club, the Range Rover Register, the Rover P6 Club and the Triumph Dolomite Club.

The run starts at 10.30am on Saturday 21st August, 2010 and finishes at the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon. Owners of the the cars that Spen King worked on are invited to come along. These cars include the Rover P6, SD1, Triumph Stag, Dolomite Sprint and Range Rover and, according to its organiser Sally Sheldon, ‘it would be nice to add some Maestros and Metros.’

The starting points depend on your car. All Triumph vehicles will leave from the Standard Triumph Club, Herald Avenue, Coventry. All Rover and other vehicles will start from the Damson Lane entrance to the Land Rover factory in Solihull.

For more information, visit the Rover SD1 Club website, or download an application form from here. Places are limited to the first 100 vehicles…

  1. I would love to come but, sadly, I don’t have anything suitable – only the Renault – which, while it may take styling cues from the SD1, doesn’t qualify I guess 🙁
