Rover decided not to directly replace the faithful old Montego, but instead go upmarket. The Accord-based 600 was conceived to go straight for the jugular of the BMW 3-Series, and it had the style to meet that aim. Did it have the substance?


The development story

The 600 was less of a collaborative effort, and more of a restyling exercise. However, the end result looked good, and most people viewed it as a classier looking product than the Honda Accord it was based on.
