More than 1200 miles from home our Princess and her passengers have reached Scotland.

When the sun sets, we are still not in Scotland, still on the M6 fighting the hills around the Lake District with roughly 100 miles to go to our first nightly stop in Scotland, near Glasgow. The M6 has proven to be one of the more beautiful motorways in this country thanks to the changing and occasionally stunning scenery.
The day started early in Birmingham city centre for us. First stop of the day was the MG Motor UK Sales Centre at Longbridge. Here we got a tour of the Engineering Office and the factory. We also had the chance to take the MG6 for a test-drive – which was duly taken. A visit to Tatton Park near Knutsford in Cheshire rounded the day for us before hitting the M6 to start the long journey up to Scotland.

That stretch of the M6 from Cumbria into Scotland is a fantastic drive, it’s even got a great motorway services too (I kid you not!).
Did you see any car assembly work going on at Longbridge?
They were on summer shutdown/break when we were down there 2 weeks ago – I would guess that would still be the case.
The production was shut down indeed. It is currently prepared for the Diesel model. But this is common practice in the automotive industry.
That interior shot of the MG factory looks more like what a fully working car factory should look like. Good to see the MG3 “exists” and may be on the market eventually / soon.

Have you been in a “fully working car factory” recently?
Usual signs of factory activity (even allowing for the lack of staff that a “holiday” shut down brings) will involve track side and overhead equipment and fast moving stocks of component parts. What we see here is an indoor car park…
Know the northern stretches of the M6 well – I am of Cumbrian origins and still travel there to visit Mum & Dad.
Glad to here all going well and the Princess in good shape!
Encouraged to see the MG3 parked at Longbridge. Even registered! Looks pleassing in this shot.
