News : Harris Mann to be honoured in Brum

Arguably, the best-known stylist from the house of BL is a Mann who needs very little introduction, and he’s to be recognised at the upcoming Classic Motor Show in November.

The Main Mann – Harris (on left), now 80 years young, is to be honoured by the TR Drivers Club at the upcoming NEC Classic Motor Show

The TR Drivers Club (TRDC) will be having a bit of a do during this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC – Stand 590 in Hall 4 will be home to a display commemorating Designer Harris Mann’s 80th birthday earlier this year. A red Princess, a blue TR7 Sprint and a white MG XPower SV have all been specifically chosen to represent a patriotic colour scheme and also to showcase some of the historic, futuristic cars Harris was either involved with or wholly responsible for.

Harris is going to be presented with a special award at 3:00pm on Saturday, 10 November, but you’ll have to be there to find out all about it.  Harris’s continuing involvement with the cars he created is a great example to us all and, since taking up the role as Honorary President of the TRDC, he has been a great asset in promoting these iconic, wedge-shaped sports cars to the world, not least with the TRDC’s current project to re-manufacture TR7 panels following the scandalous scrapping of the existing press tools by British Motor Heritage.

Simon Goldsworthy, Editor of Triumph World magazine, will be making the presentation and that will be followed by the cutting of a cake supplied by the TRDC, which is hoping to press the TR Register and the Triumph Sports Six Club into providing the tea! It should all make for a jolly good do. See you all there!
