Blog : Merry Christmas from AROnline

Merry Christmas

Well, here we are having made it through another year and, as we begin to dim the lights on 2013 and look ahead to 2014, I thought I’d thank you all for your continued support. It’s certainly been an interesting year, with the British car industry, now under overseas ownership, going from strength to strength – we now seem to have cracked the art of building cars that people want. It will be good to see how that momentum continues into 2014 with two of our big sellers, the MINI and Qashqai replaced by brand new models.

AROnline has continued to grow throughout the year and, despite the fact that I spent much of the first half of the year building and then launching Honest John Classics, I hope that there’s been more than enough love spread in this website’s direction. One of the great things about HJClassics is that I’ve been able to refocus AROnline on UK-built, and (to a lesser extent) badged cars – my passion for the others now has a more legitimate outlet. I’ve not, of course, taken any of the existing content away from AROnline – you’ll just have to search a little harder if you want to read about Audi, Alfa Romeo or Citroen…

The AROnline community continues to impress and delight, too. Throughout 2013, you’ve challenged, interested and contributed massively to the site. Truly, if it wasn’t for you, the site would be a shadow of its current self and for that I am grateful to you all. We’ve had some brilliant contributions to the blogs along the way – thanks to the likes of Martyn Kelham, Andrew Elphick, Robert Leitch and the irrepressible Mike Humble, we have some great original content – and you don’t end up bored reading just my ramblings.

What does 2014 hold for AROnline? Well, I’m planning a new site layout, which will improve how you access the content. Trust me, there’s a lot of it – we’re rapidly approaching 6000 stories, and it’s time to make the place a whole lot easier to navigate. That’s in the future – right now, we’re sauntering into Christmas and I can smell the mince pies and mulled wine, so I’ll sign off for now.

Have a great Christmas, and see you in 2014!

  1. Thanks for continuing to provide sterling service to those of us who appreciate active and dormant British marques, Keith. Above all, Aronline continues to be in a class of its own.

  2. Have a great Christmas and New Year.
I am enjoying my recent purchase, an X308 Jag.
    Thanks Keith and the team.

  3. Happy Christmas and best wishes to everyone at the site whether a contributor or a visitor.

I look forward to seeing the improvements to the site in the new year.

  4. The problem with this website is it’s more addictive than some illegal drugs!
Well done Keith – and happy Christmas to you and all the contributors!

    Cheers! 😀

  7. Merry Xmas everybody.
It is probably me, but this year I don’t have a christmas bone in my body. It’s all a load of old squit as we say in Norfolk, a lot of fuss over two days. But that should not stop the rest of you from having a damn good time.

  8. Thanks to all who have kept us informed (and sometimes amused) throughout 2013.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

  9. Happy New Year and a belated Merry Christmas, many thanks to Keith and those others that make this such an interesting webplace to be. The future of Britain is Bright with JLR Pumping and MG trickling out new cars, lets hope some of the brightness makes its way to Norfolk 🙂 alex (NZL).

  10. Merry Christmas to Keith and the team. Thanks for some excellent reading in 2013 and I look forward to the updates in 2014

Good luck to JLR, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, MINI, Lotus, Aston Martin, Morgan, IBC, Ariel, Triumph, Norton, JCB as the British manufacturing recovery continues

How about an article on the Slough-built Citroens ?

  12. Hi Keith and all the fellow British Car enthusiasts. I read all the articles and comments regularly while not posting as often as I should, and as stated above, it’s the most enjoyable and best car site on the web.
Thanks and best wishes to you all (especially to you for all you do Keith) for the coming year. I feel that things are looking up for British based manufacturing and this site has done a lot to keep the positives in view despite the best efforts of other parts of the media!
    Here’s to 2014!
