GENEVA Thursday
Britain’s new E-type Jaguar was hailed by the Swiss press today as the “sensation” of the 31st Geneva International Motor Show.
Sir William Lyons, chairman of the Jaguar Company, was standing beside a model of the car which is making its world premiere here when the show opened today.
“We have already received a flood of orders.” Sir William said.
“I cannot give any accurate figures at the moment because many dealers ordered the car unseen, while their orders have been coming in since the car was introduced to the public yesterday.”
The first personal sale was to M. Jacques Charrier, husband of Brigitte Bardot, the French filmstar. He flew to Geneva from Rome yesterday to test the 150 mph car. There is no advertised price for the car but it is understood that it is selling for about £2,860.

Nah, it’ll never catch on 😉
Mind you, at £2,860, I think I’ll take a chance on one…
… but it stole the show from the DB4GT JET .. now at auction this Saturday 18th May 2013
