In 1980, the Marina was restyled for the new decade by Harris Mann. The production engineering was carried out by Giorgetto Giugiaro‘s Ital Design styling studio, and BL sought to capitalize on the Italian connection by naming the new car the Morris Ital.
The Ital suffered the ultimate indignity (for a Morris) of being built in the Austin factory at Longbridge for the final two years of its life.

Although my mother and father bought a Morris Ital in March 1981 it wasn’t one of the best cars they had because it didn’t have rear seat belts, central locking or five speed manual transmission.
LOL I don’t think Ital Design exactly shout about their involvement in the Marina from the rooftops..
