Andrew Elphick

Senior Contributor

Andrew ElphickHe might come from Essex and have an irrational, if understandable, love of Uncle Henry’s finest, but Andrew’s encyclopaedic knowledge of the automotive industry is a constant source of new material for AROnline. Check out his detailed stories on Midas and Trident to see what we mean…

Now he’s busy working towards retirement. Hmm.

Richard Truett

US Editor

Richard TruettCurrently Detroit-based Automotive News’ ‎ Engineering and Technology Reporter, Richard Truett is a lifelong Triumph and Rover fan. Despite living in Motown, his drive looks like it’s forever Canley, with a collection of Triumphs to make any fan of the great marque go weak at the knees. As he so eloquently puts it, ‘In the States, if you drove an MG or Triumph or had a Rover sedan, you were part of a different crowd.

‘You had friends everywhere you went. You thumbed your nose at the mainstream.’ And today, he also drives an EFi-powered Triumph TR8 and beautifully-kept Triumph Stag. Good man…

Robert Leitch

Contributor

Robert LeitchRobert grew up on a street in Glasgow where everybody seemed to own Minis, Minors and 1100s. The hands-on approach these cars required was the start of a lifelong fascination. Despite learning to drive in an ADO16, he confesses to a lifetime of automotive apostasy and an omnivorous interest in cars of all origins. An unexpected posting to Birmingham, for the two years before the axe fell on MG Rover, rekindled his interest in BMC>MG and a number of contributions to AROnline have followed.

As well as contributing to AR’s forums, he writes his own 5ivegearsinreverse blog which he describes as ‘automotive observations occasionally informed by an arcane body of obsessively-garnered knowledge, but more often simply by disbelief, bewilderment, and spite.’

Steven Ward

Contributor

Steven WardIf you cut Steven’s veins, he’d bleed what he calls The Firm. A lifelong fan of MG Rover and their predecessors, he has carved a successful career selling cars, with his favourites inevitably hailing from Longbridge.

His greatest dream was to have his own MG dealership, but – alas – it hasn’t so far been… but there’s still time. Founding member of the popular, and slightly baffling, forum Macdroitwich, Steven’s often found online imparting various pearls of wisdom to fans across the globe.

He currently owns the most famous Wedge in the country – Snappy – which has appeared at many shows and events in the UK, and runs the very impressive Leyland Princess website.

Kevin is happiest when dishing out sensible buying advice… Contact Kevin if you have any Wedge-related queries, or fancy some buying advice.

Clive Goldthorp

Contributing Editor

Clive Goldthorp

Clive claims that his interest in the BMC>MG story dates back to his childhood in the 1960s when the family’s garage premises were leased to a tenant with an Austin agency. However, back in the 1920s and 1930s, his grandmother was one of the country’s first female Garage Proprietors so cars probably run in his genes!

He owned an 06/06 MG TF 135 and then a 15/64 MG3 Style for much of the time he has been associated with AROnline – more recently, though, he has re-kindled a long-standing Alfa Romeo affair with an 18/68 Giulia Veloce 280…

Clive, who was AROnline’s News Editor for nearly four years, stood down from that role in order to devote more time to various Motor Racing and other projects, but remains active behind the scenes sub-editing content on a regular basis.
