Here at AROnline, we just like cars, no matter how futile or expensive – in fact the bigger the technical cul-de-sac the better! Last year we reported on the inaugural Future car Challenge, run from Brighton to London the day prior too the traditional London to Brighton Veteran car run. This year on Saturday 5 November, the public gets another chance to view the cars (and the stars) in the Flesh.
For fans of the “Firm” Neil Hutchinson returns in his fully ‘EV’ MGF once again; Tata returns under the Land Rover banner with three Range_e hybrid concepts; and Nissan flies the flag for UK manufacturing with a multiple Leaf entry again. Our friends in Oxford our fielding two MINI Es, so no Hopkirk diesel power this year.
Another unusual entry is the Windreich Electric E-type. Yep, and EV E type Jaguar (above)! Windreich the German Windfarm giant hopes its 1961 E-type will be ready in time – is this the future of the classic car? However the big draw for car geeks will be Gordon Murray in the T25 and Ralph Clague in EV T27 – the T25’s electric brother. Keep an eye out for Damon Hill OBE and current electric car land speed record holder Don Wales.
Run on public roads, the challenge is free to spectate en route or at the start line in Brighton’s Maderia drive (from 7.30am) or the finish line in Regent street London (from 10.30am). AROnline‘s smart money for the best vantage point is at the halfway rest-over point in Crawley (at the central Sussex college) where you will have a fairly crowd free roam among tomorrow’s propulsion…

I remember selling a laptop once to a bloke who was building a Jet powered Skoda Rapide!
@ Dennis
Really??? Did you hear anything more about it? (the car – not the laptop :-))
Hangy onny Mr Adams, http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/101947-coming-soon-the-greatest-favorit-project-ever-probably/
From another forum. The electric Skoda Favorit! It has been a labour of love for the owner, and good on em for actually making it.
