..Several other factories in the Midlands were affected by the stoppage at the BMC subsidiary of SU Carburettors at Erdington, Birmingham , where 21 tool setters returned to work yesterday after a strike lasting five weeks. At the Coventry factory of Jaguars 950 men were out yesterday, though they will be returning for work today ; in Birmingham 1,000 were idle at Nuffield Metal Products, and 250 were idle at the BMC Longbridge factory. In addition 2,000 men at the Pressed Steel Company at Cowley, Oxford, were idle as an indirect result of the non-arrival of carburettors for the car assembly factories.
