Rover chairman Graham Day is giving up his position as chief executive and has appointed George Simpson, chief executive of Leyland/DAF, as managing director. A Rover spokeman said that the changes brought Rover into line with other subsidiaries of British Aerospace, where the role of chairman and managing director are separated.
