Spoke too soon, didn’t I?!
I was about half way home from work today when the ride quality went to pot. Oh dear, when I parked up home and jumped out, I soon realised what the problem is… the suspension’s collapsed on the driver’s side.
That’s why I am now on the hunt for a rear displacer and a pump up. Please get in touch if you can help, or know someone who can…

I think it’s almost certainly the rear unit that will have failed – the quality of later ‘gas units seems to be rather poor and the heat from the confined engine bay helps them to fail.

I reckon that Northampton-based MG Rover specialists Clifton Lane Limited will probably be able to help.
I have a genuine pump and live in Spalding, if that’s of any use Keith.
