Another dispute in a components firm, Adwest, near Reading, goes on, and the effects of this are likely to grow over the coming week. Adwest makes power steering units and a strike by 400 workers has stopped production.
This has already caused a shutdown of Jaguar’s saloon and sports car production and the lay off of 2,000 workers at the Coventry car assembly and engines plant More Jaguar workers are likely to be stopped over the next day or two, and there may be increasing production problems in the plants of other Adwest customers including Rover and Jensen.
