CAR GIANT DEFIES UNION
Leyland boss Sir Michael Edwardes will today defy Britain’s mightiest union in a bid to end pay chaos. A national wage parity scheme, which has been opposed in its present form by the giant Transport and General Workers Union, will now go ahead. In a bulletin to 120,000 employees, Leyland say that old fashioned plant by plant bargaining is hopeless.
