A two-week- old strike by 260 workers at British Leyland’s Butec factory at Leyland, Lancashire, ended yesterday when the men accepted a wage increase of about £5 for all employees. The workers, who produce electrical equipment for heavy vehicles, were seeking parity with colleagues at the five bus and truck factories in the area.
