COVENTRY, AUG. 28
A joint meeting between Mr. Stanley Markland, the new managing director of Standard-Triumph International, and local union officials will be held in Coventry on Thursday three days before 2,500 men employed on Triumph Herald production at the firm’s Coventry factories begin short-time working.
A union official said tonight: “We have been told that the meeting is mainly for Mr Markland to get acquainted with local officials, but we will obviously try to find out as much as we can about the future. We will ask if the forthcoming short time is likely to be prolonged and if there is any danger of its spreading”
