Strike stops BL plant
Production of Rover and Acclaim cars at BL’s Cowley plant was halted yesterday by a strike involving 200 workers. The strikers, all members of the Transport and General Workers Union walked out in protest at plans to transfer 100 of them to new jobs within the plant when Acclaim production moves to Longbridge next week.
A reccomendation from union officials to work normally while shop stewards tried to resolve the dispute was rejected.
