Press operators at the British Leyland car body plant in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, went back to work yesterday after a 12-day strike which stopped production of 5,000 Minis. Another 2,200 workers laid off at the factory were recalled.
Mini production resumed at the Austin Morris factory in Longbridge yesterday with the progressive return of 1,250 men affected there. The strike, over a manning agreement for 330 workers, was called off on the advice of union officials.
