Nearly 3,000 Rover workers at two Birmingham factories were made idle yesterday following an unofficial strike by fifty-four gearbox assemblers at Rovers’ subsidiary factory at Greet , Birmingham.
Production of Land-Rovers was at a standstill. Several hundred other Rover workers at Solihull were also laid off because of the Girling dispute.
