Another component dispute was near a settlement yesterday. Production returned to normal at the Rover works in Cardiff after a week’s strike by 650 engineering workers over a pay dispute. The strike followed a period of working to rule, which had interfered with supplies to the assembly works at Solihull.
The strikers agreed yesterday to return pending talks Supplies are unlikely to justify a complete resumption at Solihull until Monday. The 2,250 assembly workers laid off will be brought back gradually.
