XPart : Competition to find MG Rover with most interesting history launched

XPart is offering prizes to the MG Rover owners with the most interesting stories to tell in an ongoing bid to keep the British manufacturer’s heritage alive.

MG Rover parts specialist XPart is inviting MG Rover owners around the country to enter a competition to decide whose car has the most interesting history. The company is offering three ultra-bright LED handlamps (each worth £60) to the top three entrants.

In addition to MG’s strong racing heritage, many of Britain’s much-loved MG and Rover cars have led a varied and colourful life over the years, travelling far afield to exotic locations and even being used on film sets and in TV series. Entries will be judged by a panel of MG Rover specialists and the winners will be announced in July 2010.

‘We frequently hear all kinds of remarkable anecdotes from within the MG Rover community, and would like to welcome owners to write in describing why they think their MG Rover has the most interesting story to tell,” explains Barry Smith, UK Sales Manager, XPart.

‘For instance, we recently heard that one enthusiast group had bought the oldest RHD Rover 75 in existence, which, alongside a busy life as a security car at Cowley and Longbridge, has also made screen appearances in ‘Midsomer Murders’ and ‘Ultimate Force’. In addition to the LED handlamp prizes, we’d like to announce the winners in a news story this summer as we continue in our drive to keep the MG Rover name alive and well.”

XPart has supported the UK’s one million MG Rover owners with replacement parts and specialist servicing since August 2004. With a network of 250 AutoService centres and 100 parts wholesalers around the country, the company offers owners dealer level servicing at affordable aftermarket rates, together with genuine replacement parts. Car owners can locate their nearest AutoService centre or parts wholesaler by visiting www.xpart.com. Since September 2008, XPart has also supplied replacement parts for the new MG TF LE 500 to MG Motor UK’s 41 Dealers and Authorised Repairers.

Entrants are invited to submit their entries to xpart_communications@cat.com by 30th June 2010. All entrants must be over 18, should be able to demonstrate proof of ownership of the vehicle and will be asked to give their consent to their stories being used in the media. The LED handlamp prize is shock, water and oil resistant and uses standard input 240v AC Power. It has up to six hours’ battery life and is supplied complete with battery charging unit.
