On this day:

Sir Donald Stokes writes to Alec Issigonis:

Dear Alec,

I am hoping to have a word with you on Friday at BMC and I am trying to work out a method of collating the work done throughout the new Group in such a form that I can make a monthly report of the new combined Company.

I have no doubt Bertie Fogg will be having various talks with you as soon as he is back at work again regarding methods of collaboration in the Engineering Department, but in the meantime I wonder whether you would be good enough to let me have a short monthly report showing the sort of work you are undertaking in your new set up and the progress made.

One of the things I want to talk to you about particularly when Bertie is available is forward programme on engineering development and a budget for the control of expenditure.

Perhaps you could be turning these things over in your mind.
