THE GUARDIAN
About 4,300 Jaguar workers will be laid off from today because of an unofficial stoppage by 300 night staff at the Castle Bromwich paint shop over the ending of the night shift and the consequent loss of special premium payments.
The strikers are to meet again tomorrow. More than half of Jaguar’s hourly paid workforce at the three plants in Coventry and Castle Bromwich will be affected by the lay-offs.
