The BMC Austin Mini and Morris Mini-Minor are four years old today. A total of 662,337 Mini’s of all types have been produced, and 200,000 have been exported, 50 per cent to Europe and 25 per cent to Australia, where the Mini is second best selling car after the locally produced Holden.
BMC is now producing 5,750 cars of this type every week. There are 18 different models in four different marques, ranging from the basic saloons to the Wolseley Hornet and Riley Elf, from plain vans to estate cars.
